Washington State Ferry and Coast Guard in newsworthy rescue

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-ne ... io-strait/ After a wave took out a windshield, causing injuries the wind was too high for operating the boat. A Coast Guard crew handled the boat the WA DOT Ferry, the Samish ran wind interference. No bad acting boaters, but a genuine accident...

    SOLD - 2007 C-Dory 22, Bremerton Washington @ $44,500

Just to confirm, this is indeed my son who is assisting with the sale. We have some medical issues, and have not been able to be active boaters. I have enjoyed my limited participation in the boating world, and will miss it. RobLL

Sure glad we no longer have a C Dory

My most and only lightning scare was with a Church youth group. We were on the west end of Hurricane Ridge, good weather until - suddenly a lighting cloud was above us and active. The wind took it back and forth across the ridge 3 or 4 times, flashing about once every 5 minutes and close. There...

Possibly a Must Have Feature for All Boaters

I think most of us here are of the suspender plus belt sorts, and probably even at least one more layer of protection. There will, undoubtedly be those who abuse this. But likely as important, even they will get that message for rescue hours earlier, and location provided. All of that not only...

Possibly a Must Have Feature for All Boaters

When I heard about this earlier this year, I decided I wanted it as soon as possible. This likely is as reliable as any emergency feature currently on our boats. With the added ability to work as well anywhere ashore. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technolo ... llite-sos/

    What kind of marine survey?

Water infiltration into transom and particularly rear half of hull are the big boat things. Mechanics view of motor/controls is the other big one. About everything else on a C-Dory is a relatively easy or not too expensive thing. Check out the electronics, but most of that is, compared to the...

    A Tragic Saga

https://www.bwsailing.com/anatomy-of-a-tragedy-at-sea/ I don't think this has been previously posted. A harrowing tale of what can go wrong even for the well prepared.

    THANK YOU DR. BOB

Thinking of you and all of the people of Florida, especially in the eastern coastal areas. As always information from you about how you and neighbors intend to stay safe would be interesting.

Seattle Fauntleroy Terminal and ferry Cathlamet Crash

https://www.king5.com/article/news/loca ... 0tVNu_XmM8 This includes a video as the crash happens. The point of contact was well below the walkon/off passenger ramp site. The impact then pulled the upper superstructure down - one passenger is seen running to safety as it happens

Seattle Fauntleroy Terminal and ferry Cathlamet Crash

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-ne ... vy-damage/ I have not been able to figure out how hitting a dolphin could cause superstructure damage so high up on the ferry. Anyone have any ideas. I have never seen damage like this before, usually, always in a hard landing it is fairlly square...

    SOLD - 2007 22 hightop cruiser $48,000 Olympia Wa

At the Seattle boat show I stopped by the C-Dory display a couple times just to say hello. They made it quite clear I was unwelcome. So I stop by now to look and do not say hello. Quite unlike the Ranger Tug displays where a hello usually is enough to start a conversation.

UPdate on Training (USS McKain and USS Fitzgerald Related)

https://www.navytimes.com/naval/2022/06 ... collision/ This is a good review for all of us afloat. None of it will come as a surprise to those reading this site. But reviewing what others did which lead to disaster is always is a good reminder of best practices.
