Black dots on deck and cabin roof

This sounds like Artillery Fungus. I suffered from the same problem at the house. The cars, house siding, windows would be covered with hard to remove hard black dots. It would take vigorous scrubbing/scraping to remove them. A stain would remain but would quickly sun bleach out. Took me...

Cruiser has been sold. 10 years of fun on the boat. Never let me down. Honda OB always started and ran great (Gas only). Boat, motor, and trailer was surveyed before sale and had good report. Always had to add extra time while cruising for the questions, comments, about the boat. New owner...

22 cruiser gas tank re-priming after cleaning

I always fill The Racor filter with fuel after replacing it. Next I remove fuel line from motor at the quick connect. I then use small plastic probe to push the locking ball back. Place a rag the the fuel connector. Pump the fuel line ball and all air will purge out quickly. Connect fuel...

    Thru Hull Transducers

I epoxied my Garmin transducer in the small bilge under the sink in my 22'. I use it for depth, temperature, and fish finding. Works great and no new hole in hull. Speed comes from GPS. Second boat with installation like this. Garmin was ok with installation. In place now 9 years with no...

I'm fuming so I'd better vent or I'll explode

WM price matched purchases for me. You must ask. I showed proof of pricing in a catelog and they matched the price. I have used this for bottom paint, hardware, and electronics. Nice to be able to put hands on items before buying.

Simple trailer jack and spare tire storage

I agree with Dave on the Grade 8 hardware. Home Depot has a good stock of Grade 8 bolts, nuts, washers (1/2" or better). Won't hurt to back up with flat plate as needed.

    Outer Banks

Be sure to check into using the local NC town docks. They are free and are first come first serve. They are located down town and are close to everything. We have used them in Washington-Bath, Oriental, and Bayboro. Nice to also check in to local marinas for gas, food, pump out and hot shower...

    Cabin Door Key:

Try your local locksmith first. Will be cheaper than $20 key from Ugly Fish. My 22 did not have key. I took lockset to locksmith and they made a key in 15 minutes for $5.00. You have spare key-should be easy. Maybe try Star Lock and Key (504-522-5474).

My new 25 mods (video too)

Jason-nice clean boat-I know you are proud! I think I got a glance at the ingoing tide off your stern? Looks like a slip that will give you plenty of boat handling experience/practice? Enjoy your nice boat! Pete

lemonade, OR adding a sump near the bulkhead, core repair

Sunbeam-like you I did not want another hull penetration for the transducer. I had mixed results with the stick on transom mount. I have had past success mounting the transducer in solid fiberglass areas of other boats. I epoxied my Garmin transducer (after discussion with Garmin) to the...

    Racor Filter Bowl failing?

Boris, I used a S3227 filter with the bowl. I grease the rubber rings with dielectric grease and never had a problem taking them apart. I use a vise to hold them when I take them apart. I keep a filter and bowl assembly that has been put together as an emergency spare (never used it yet). I...

    Racor Filter Bowl failing?

I did my yearly maintenance this week. When I changed the RACOR filter assembly I noticed that the plastic bowl was "crazed" (see photos in my album). It did not leak and still feels robust. I use E10 gas with STABIL and the filter is out of direct sunlight. It is three years old. I...
