I haven't been boating in a while. Busy with other hobbies. Thought to check to see if you had a group this year. Now thinking about joining this time. I'll go wash off the boat and think about things a bit more. I'll try to decide in a few days or so and then sign up. Sounds like maybe a...
Well, I've been thinking about the trip since Chris' announcement. Weighing the travel distance and time against some other opportunities. Not quite sure yet, but I'm thinking I might not do this one. I've met several of the people before and enjoyed cruising with them, but Chris and Teri were a...
I'm starting to seriously think about this trip. I missed the last one or two Lake Powell gatherings and was thinking about this year and then learned of this combined trip. It sounds great! I'm looking into arranging things with work, which I think I can do.
I'm hoping as the dates get closer...
In past years my AT&T iPhone has worked well at the San Juan River junction on the lake with a view of Navajo mtn. I could be mistaking that for the Escalante River junction not far away, but I think not.
I think I'm on track to join the group this year as long as today's dental work passes the...
Ah, that explains it! I was looking at travel options on Google Maps a few weeks back and I couldn't get it to route through that section of road like it normally does. I tried a bunch of stuff and finally sent Google a note saying I thought their database was broken right there.
Turns out it...
I got a nice reply from them. Said all three roads I mentioned (12, 24 and through Zion on 9) are OK for towing, but they sent a link for me to check the tunnel permit process for Zion.

To summarize, there's a $15 permit to pay for a...

On the Utah Highway Patrol site I posted a question about towing on those three roads. I'll report back any reply I get. Could be useful. Or comical.
I think I'd rather try Bullfrog, partly for the novelty and partly because I'm guessing we'll be using the long way around from Page this year...
Since I expect to have more time this year I'd like to consider going up through the Bryce Canyon area and launching from Bullfrog this time. I've never done that. Coming up from San Diego it adds another couple hundred miles instead of going to Page.
Does anyone know of a real problem with Hwy...
Hi,
Sorry I missed last year's trip. I should be able to make it this year. I haven't been on here in quite a while and thought I'd check in to see what's up.
I see my Bossa Nova on the left side of that group picture. Furthest one up the creek. I recognize the radar/engine setup and one of my...
I buy the Utah fishing license at the Walmart in Page or there's also at a tackle store downtown I think. The license "start" date can be after the purchase date, so you can buy it and have it "active" during the stretch of days you're most interested in.
I guess buying it online would give the...
Two little iPhone/iPad points to add to some of the recent posts in case it matters for people's planning:
One is that I've used my AT&T iPhone in the mid-lake area with a view of Navajo mountain, so AT&T does work there.
The other is that an iPad doesn't need to have the 3G contract activated...
My AT&T iPhone works there in the location they mentioned where you can see the mountain. The major marinas (but not Dangling Rope) work also.
Other areas are deadsville, man. You're camping, for sure.

On my ACR unit, the self test is battery and internal system only. I don't think there's a way to send a test signal to the satellites and have some confirmation message returned from the internet. So in that regard there's no way to test the whole system, as can be done with the SPOT.
That's...
