Changing my own oil; need some backup!

Tim - I did it quite a few times on that engine, let me know if you run into anything. Mac

    11/15 - Snohomish River Cruise

Wait a minute - yep, the crab pots are collecting dust - as are the fishing rods, downriggers, lines and lures - but only one of us has converted to green stuff only...

    power while on the hook

When we started cruising, we went 2 days (nights) without trouble - we thought. When we tried to stretch to 3 days - we had dead house batteries (Wallas wouldn't work!). Always had the separate engine battery to start the diesel, so no problem. But, the batteries started to get weaker -...

    Raymarine S1000 Wireless Autopilot

Yep - I forgot about that part. I really like having the rudder indicator on my C-120 display that comes from the rudder feedback unit on the autopilot. In the Ranger 25, I still don't see the benefit of a remote. Unlike an autopilot that turns an outboard motor (with its' very quick turning...

    Raymarine S1000 Wireless Autopilot

We went with the ST6002 / S1G in Island Ranger - same as we had in Two Lucky Fish - (our C-Dory 22). It was more expensive, but I wanted the flux gate compass. Too many times running in places where the current is strong and the GPS course doesn't match the ships heading. You cannot heard in...

    Baking on a Wallas

We've tried (Linda I mean), but without success. We tried the folding oven, with diffuser. Couldn't get it to work. In addition, the Wallas manual says you must always keep a pot on the stove, or keep the lid down(my guess is that the surface overheats?) Mac

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH YOUR RANGER TUG TODAY ??

Here's my guess at this point. The factory install was two house batteries on Island Ranger - each at 105 amp hour. If we only want to use a max of 50%, we have 105 amps to work with. I was guessing we use something in the 50 AH per day - running the fridge all day and night. 'course it is not...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH YOUR RANGER TUG TODAY ??

Hope Island / Skagit County is included in the Deception Pass State Park system. It is completely primitive - the only thing we found was a few picnic tables. There were a couple of paths - pretty overgrown. We were told they lead to the other side - not a great hiking island. The Island...

    Fuel Gauge

Mine sits past full for a long time. By the time it moves to "F", I've burned 15 gallons. When it is at 3/4, I have about a half a tank. I've thought about trying to recalibrate, but never got around to it. Mac

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH YOUR RANGER TUG TODAY ??

We're back. We had an incredibly great trip - 4 weeks, a little over 600 miles, 111 engine hours up to the Broughtons and back home to South Whidbey. Great cruising at 1700 rpm, 6 kts - under 1 gph. (we did "zip" up the first couple of days to get through the Straight of Georgia, but the rest...

    Ranger 25 Modifications and Add-ons

OK. I am not so happy with Fed Ex - again. My replacement panels didn't leave Redding all day, and now they won't be here until Friday. Not bad huh, schedule for today, then reschedule for two days later. Guess that's part of the price for living on an Island. Humm.. what to do.... I took some...
