    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

I made my voyage in a 16 foot center console Duroboat “tinny” with a 40 Yamaha on the back and a 2.5 Suzuki kicker. Isabel carried a max 34 gallons of gas and cruised at a max 10mpg depending on her load. I started on the Mississippi in St Louis on May 1st of this year, and entered the Gulf in...

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

The Isabel was a 16’ with a new 40 Yamaha and I got 10 mpg with a 3 blade prop. Tested a 4 blade and it went down slightly and top speed was also diminished. But anyway, I want a bigger more comfortable boat and the 22’ Angler is a nice size and I like the fact that it’s light(er) and can be...

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

Thataway I’m pretty much a minimalist, and going from my 16’ open aluminum skiff to a 22’ Angler is a huge step up in terms of what I can carry, but by most people’s standards I plan on packing extremely light to gunkhole the Bahamas. After a 5,000 mile run non-stop run in a small skiff you get...

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

Just to be clear I was talking about a 22’ Angler with a Yamaha 70, which is out of the starting gate over 300 pounds lighter than a 22’ Cruiser with a 90 or a 115. There are advantages in places like the Bahamas to a smaller engine coupled with a shallow draft!

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

I was guessing that a 90 and a 70 at the same speed would have similar fuel economy, in which case I would likely go with the bigger engine. Anyway my goal is to maximize fuel efficiency for long distance travel. I want to cruise on a plane but DO NOT need a fast boat. If there’s one thing I...

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

Can anyone tell me what MPG I should expect on a new 22’ angler powered with a 70 Yamaha carrying a light to moderate load? As high as 8?

    Isabel’s untimely end

Was that 3.5 mpg for the twin 70s? That’s better than I would have thought on a heavily equipped 23’…..a range of just over 150 miles with the standard tanks? I do plan on packing a light boat when I continue up into the maritimes to increase my range and for handling the big Atlantic swell...

    Isabel’s untimely end

I did a mix of both daninPA. Parts of the ICW are beautiful and off the beaten path, but other parts are congested with lots of boats and the occasional dangerous operator and long no-wake zones. I really liked the parts of the ICW along the southeast in Georgia and the Carolinas but I generally...
