    Moving battery bank to galley

Stephan I repowered with Mercury 150's with stainless steel props from 2008 honda 135's with aluminum props. Main reason i repowered the honda's were not very reliable in one motor would quit from over heating even after replacing all thermostats. So i have two house and two starter...

    Moving battery bank to galley

Stephan, when i moved the batteries forward i saw nice improvement in my Tomcat performance, up on plane much faster and cockpit able to be better at self bailing. My boat came with 5 batteries in the aft locker plus unknown to me when i purchased my Tomcat the outboards were mounted to high...

    Moving battery bank to galley

I had two house and starter batteries moved to the floor at the helm seat, this really improved the drainage in the cockpit and also performance improved by getting up on plane faster. I took out the hot water tank and the switches are in the cabinet below the helm seat. I also added a...

Repower 2008 Tomcat with Mercury 150s?

Hello Paul, I also have 2008 Tomcat and i am repowering at this moment with mercury 150's. I choose mercury's cause they are the least weight, i'm letting the dealer choose the prop size. When i get my boat back and I can let you know the prop size. Ed

    Tomcat Engine Mounting Height

I was having really poor performance with my Tomcat and thought it was the wrong props but it turned out the outboards were mounted to high. The standard is the cavitation plate should be 1" above bottom of the transom for every 12" the bracket is back from the transom. Made big difference...

    Tomcat propellers

Roger i think your correct most of my improvement was from lowering the motors. There is a improvement in ride and much better self bailing with batteries moved up. My WOT speed now is around 33 mph with 5200 rpm's, still low but better then before. What prop's are you using? Thanks Ed

    Tomcat propellers

Just want to give an update on my stern heavy Tomcat. I had 5 batteries in the stern locker, moved them up under the helm floor and now have two starter and two house batteries. What also changed is my outboards were mounted to high. I could never figure out why trimming the performance...

    Tomcat propellers

Thank you all for your comments. A little history, my Tomcat is fairly new to me about 14 months. Boat came with 3 house batteries and two starter batteries. It also came with 12 v hot water tank so that's probably the reason for 3 house batteries. I was thinking of changing out the...

    Tomcat propellers

Hoping for some advice for my Tomcat props. I've read many posts and looks to me every boat slightly different. I'm hoping to improve fuel economy and cruising speed. No fuel meter. Here's what i have: 2008 Tomcat, twin honda 135's, three blade aluminum 14.8x17 honda props, bottom paint...

    Tomcat self bailing issues

Hello all, i'm a new c-brat and new owner of a 2008 tomcat. I've been looking at tomcat's for few years and the tomcat fits my needs very well: camping and fishing and able to trailer. After shrimping yesterday in Hood Canal i was washing down the cockpit and i was surprised how long it...
