    B10 and Pacific Salmon - 2005

Hi, you mentioned weighting crab pots when crabbing on the Columbia. How much weight do you suggest and how do you configure it? I'm imagining hanging a lead ball inside each corner of the bottom of the trap...? Any luck the last few days in the lower Columbia or ocean? Thanks, Dan

    B10 and Pacific Salmon - 2005

Wait a minute - I can't keep up; barbless outside of B-10 and barbed inside? Thanks for help, Dan

    B10 and Pacific Salmon - 2005

Mike, I've never been over the bar but am considering it on days from the 18th thru the 22nd. You mention that the next three weekends are lousy. I know very little about this so am not arguing, just trying to learn. The weekend of 20/21 August shows the low tide at 7:18 AM and 8:04 AM...

    B10 and Pacific Salmon - 2005

Thanks Ken for the reply. I am not accustomed to weighting my crab pots - fish primarily Puget Sound. How much weight do you suggest? I've also never navigated the Ilwaco Channel so do appreciate your input. I'll be sure to watch the chart as we go - my Garmin unit is up to date. I'll need...

    B10 and Pacific Salmon - 2005

Anyone out today? I'm planning on dragging the 22 down for a week beginning on the 17th. I'm staying in Ilwaco. I've fished the area several times from a seat in a guide's boat but never on my own craft. When you say CR, are you referring to a can or buoy? Someone said earler "went by the...

    Bay Marine (Kitsap peninsula, WA)

Hi, Doesn't really answer your question but I've had work done at Kitsap Marine in Port Orchard and have been happy with the quality of work and price. Cheers, Dan

    SCOTTY DOWN RIGGER LOCACTIONS

Hi, I have Cannons but for what it's worth, I mounted one on each side just forward of the fuel ports. They are on swivel mounts and I could not be happier with the location. My standing position as I'm cranking them is comfortable allowing me to lean into the gunwhale. I also sit on the aft...

    04/01 - 04/03 Cathlamet, WA

Thanks Tim and Larry, I feel much better now. I've fished the Columbia; Astoria Bridge to Buoy 10 many times. But never so far upstream as Cathlamet. Totally unfamiliar with the area. I've been following the hogline thread on ifish.net and was ready to canx on the coming weekend. I don't...

    Neah Bay Halibut 2005

Mason, What kind of run is it from Seiku? How about from Neah Bay? Is this an ocean fishery or in the Straits? I was considering the Halibut Derby in Port Angeles about the same time. Cheers, Dan

    04/01 - 04/03 Cathlamet, WA

Hi, As this trip gets nearer and the more I read the ifish forums on the Springer fishery, I am getting a little nervous about the prospect of anchoring up in what sounds like a mall parking lot at Christmas time full of aluminum sleds. It doesn't take much wind to blow a 22' C-Dory off course...

    04/01 - 04/03 Cathlamet, WA

Hi, Couple questions; I think this was brought up before but I couldn't quickly locate the thread - the WA State regulations list no Salmon season during the dates of this gathering. In fact, on page 70 it indicates Jan 1 - Mar 31. Hooks: Are multiple treble hooks allowed in this area? Are...

Hi, The weekends of the 5/6 and 25/26 both have considerable tide swings. Either weekend work? Dan

    Outboard Choice??

I have to say that I do love my Honda 90. But, sometimes I would trade my 9.9 for a good paddle. The throttle tension sleeve lasted all but two weeks and the automatic choke has got to be some disgruntled designer's practical joke. Dan
