    Considering a move up

The pros and cons of owning a larger, more complex boat are well detailed here, so I will simply address the learning curve associated with moving to a larger boat. Nearly three years ago we went from our c-dory to a 32 foot single diesel boat. As far as maneuvering the boat we started out by...

Great Republic getting a complete restoration

Jesse did much of the work on our Tomcat and now works on our Grand Banks. He is the real deal! I was in his shop Monday, and saw Great Republic sitting there. That thing has a massive cockpit!! What a fishing machine it will be. All of Jesse's work looks first rate. A very nice conversion.

    Pro Angler 26 restoration advice

In Bellingham, I recommend Jessie at Bitterend boatworks. If he cannot do it, he knows someone who can. He is located next to Hilton Harbor that has a lift and storage, so your boat will be in good care.

new boat, new owners. basic stuff for onboard????

Off the top of my head, I would suggest a good set of tools; spare belts, hoses, and filters; a multi-meter; flashlights and batteries; some sharp knives; the usual safety equipment; some 4200/5200/epoxy; lots of spare rope; and some good friends to enjoy it all with.

    Nordic Tug furloughs workforce

Agreed. We cruise on a Grand Banks now, but the first thing I do every morning is check C-brats. Maybe two or three times more per day as well. It's home.

    New toy

I used the camera to check my fuel tanks and lines, as well as all the fittings for the hot water heater and head. It's also great for inspecting tight quarters in lazarettes. Note that I currently own a GB32 that has more systems than a c-dory. On my tomcat I would have used the camera to...

    New toy

I just bought an inspection camera with a 36" flexible hose. I took it down to the boat and finally got a look at lots of places that I couldn't see before. Fortunately, all looks well. Great little toy.

    Antifatigue Floor Squares

We used the black antifatigue mats that can buy at Lowes or Home Depot in our TC24. They are much cheaper than the alternatives and work well. At the end of each season, I would pull the squares and powerwash the cockpit. Stuff did build up over the season, but it never looked very bad.

    yacht burns at Roche harbor

We live right above Sea View North where the OA was towed. Right after it arrived the smell was terrible. It covered the entire neighborhood. I can still smell it when I ride my bike along Roedrer avenue. The hull is intact, but above that everything is burned. Terrible loss.

Stay with the 22 or go big?

We moved up from a TC24 to a Grand Banks 32. We did so because: the wife loves it, the daughter loves it, the grandson loves it, the guests love it. We loved our TC but we found ourselves cruising at 8 knots, and needing more room to entertain. We also find that moored 5 minutes from our...

    Upgrade to a 24' TomCat?

We've owned a 16', a 22' angler, and a TC24. By far the TC24 had the most room and the best handling. We felt more confident in chop and could maneuver much more easily.

    The time has come!

We still miss our TC24 and I visit C-brats every day. It's a family kind of thing. Good luck with the sale.

Moving back to Washington - boat please?

At that price point, you should have no trouble finding a good diesel boat. I see that there is a 1976 GB36 available in Seattle for much less than 100K. Other boats include a bunch of Taiwan trawlers, bayliners, Tollys, etc. A good broker is the way to go. There are several brokerage in...
