How long with no bottom paint

Thanks for all of your thoughts. Sounds like I can get along fine without the bottom paint, which is what I was hoping to hear. I will wax the bottom before departure, and power wash on return. I expect the boat to move each day, and will be in trailer distance of a friend if I cannot...

How long with no bottom paint

Hello, Do I need to bottom paint for annual trips of 1 to 2 weeks in mostly salt water on the Chesapeake and possible the outer bank areas to the south? Right now I'm planning to circumnavigate the Delmarva peninsula in summer and I am hoping to avoid bottom paint. Plan to go south from...

C-Dory Warranty now null and void

May want to try a coat of wax. My boat was manufactured with 3 separate storage lockers in the front berth (in place of flotation), and the gelcoat was sticky in delivery. A coat of wax hardened up the gelcoat in a wek or so.

    Center window problem on C-22

Massive Collaboration of Dolphins, Sharks and Birds

Just so you know, this footage is taken from "The Blue Planet Seas of Life," a 4 DVD collection that is produced by the BBC/Discovery Channel and narrated by David Attenborough. 5 years and $5million to produce. It is a worthy addition to any video collection.

    Steering fluid vanishing act?

I have the SeaStar system. Sounds like the hydraulic fluid level dropped enough to introduce air through the fill hole. Once air gets into the system it will continue to give inconsistent feedback even after topping off. You probably need to perform the fill / purge procedure to rid the system...

Bilge question - where is the water coming from?

From conversation with Bret at the old C-Dory, I understand the rear cockpit liner is glassed into the gunnels, rear transom, and front cabin, and the rear deck structure utilizes a balsa core. The result is a large open space between the liner and the normal C-Dory hull, and this area has been...

Bilge question - where is the water coming from?

Sounds like your boat has a unintended hole in an area designed to collect water for the bilge pump, and the seepage has saturated the enclosed foam filled space under the rear cockpit liner that forms the rear cockpit deck and support for the fuel tanks.
