Princess Louisa Trip, 07-10 014 Waiting for slack(er) water at Skookumchuck (Sechelt Rapids). Modest tide swing this day, and the pictures are well past peak current. Some days, the current can reach 14 or 15 knots. Whatever the day, I would never try a transit except at or very near what is a laughably short "slack."

Princess Louisa Trip, 07-10 010 - Waiting for slack water at Skookumchuck (Sechelt Rapids). We watched Canadian Coasties in an RIB training in the rapids while we waited for calmer water. They looked like young guys having the times of their lives. Sadly, two years later one of those RIBs flipped and a couple of those lives were lost.
