Hi John,
Yours are probably just missing but at the back of the boat just right above the water line are the 2 deck drains, one port, one starboard. There should be a very stiff plastic disc in there that is screwed to the deck drain assembly. Most likely, there is what's left of a small stainless fastener and no stiff plastic disk. Probably fell off. So I removed the tiny stainless fastener, drilled and tapped for 6/32, maybe 8/32 I can't remember, and installed this cool plastic disk I 3D printed. Works great. _________________ Current boats

I should mention, if anyone has any interest in making these flappers for your boat or you want to become a self made millionaire and print and sell these, PM me your email and I'll send you the file for free (if you're a C-Brat with more than a day of association). |

I finally had a chance to run my boat offshore last weekend in the open ocean and I can say with complete confidence this part works. No, it can't fix the poorly engineered design of only a 2" delta between the deck and drain port, but the flapper I've designed and made keeps water out, and easily drains the deck. |

Sell these on line or to the factory, so they will be factory issue on all of the boats with scuppers. _________________ Bob Austin

My scuppers still back flood the back deck. We bought pool pipe plugs.🥴
I see no evidence where any flapper was ever previously installed in my boat.
Very curious if I have the same hardware as others.
I’ve posted some detailed photos to my photo album. Unfortunately, I’m using an iPhone and it is not as easy to view the source as it used to be on a laptop to attach an image to this post.
If you have a moment to check my album and tell me where this flap would go, that would be pretty awesome.
Thanks,

John,
I looked in your album but didn't see the deck drain output on the outside of your boat. Please let me know if I missed it, I'm happy to help!
Anyway, on my boat, the deck drain goes through a deck fitting, interconnect hose that is very short, then to the through-hull fitting where this little flapper valve is screwed in. The 255's have a very stiff plastic flapper that doesn't work even when new My design discards the factory flapper and replaces it with a 3D printed hinge in the shape of a circle with a stainless pin through it.

Thanks Rob!
The exterior drain outlet is in a sub-album “2021 Tomcat TC255”
It is the 4th photo, titled “Img 6750”
I am here with the boat now and can provide any other photos requested to determine if your fix would work for me.
If text is better, I can text photos too, 832-326-5572
Thanks again! |
