That's great I just spent $110 on a new carb for my Stihl weed eater that was destroyed by 10% ethanol.

No, it's time to screw the Mid-West farmers and their lobbyists, politicians and the radical environmentalists who force this crap upon us!

I want to save the Earth and protect it resources and creatures as much as anyone else, but this ethanol stuff makes no sense at all!

It costs more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol than is in it.

It is a poor and devastating use of the soil.

It requires artificial fertilizers and insecticides.

It's basically a waste of energy, and of natural resources, and it screws up the environment with pesticides and other chemicals.

This ethanol mandate creates an artificial market for corn that impacts the natural functioning both the food and energy markets.

And, as we see demonstrated, it screws up our automobile, marine, and other engines.

Instead, let them plant, raise, and sell something is really needed and has a natural market!

Well, c'mon Joe, tell us how you really feel! Laughing

I agree 100%. That means less great eatin' corn for me too! Very Happy

I was able to buy ethanol free, treated fuel at a marina this afternoon. Not much of that around, I'll remember that and go back to that place again!

It seems to me that we need to provide boats to politicians so they can experience the adverse effects of ethanol on their vessels and their pocketbooks.

Why cloud the eutopian ideals with facts? The tree huggers and the Supreme Leader Al Snore, will NEVER allow this! Now go hug a tree, sell everything you own and move to a cave. That is all...

Guess it's time to get out the old still and start brewing up my on addative so I can at least be in the right state of mind when my motor goes "put".

You would think that the powers that be would at least put corn in something that we could enjoy.

This reminds me of the 70's when we went to lead free fuel. Fortunately our marinas still serve ethanol free fuel.

Well I will just re-arange my life to occomodate 15% ethanol. I will let the weeds grow to save my trimmer, I will stop watering the yard and pasture to save my mower and UTV, I will have a cold house this winter to save my chainsaw, I will have leaves covering my brown lawn so I don't destroy my leaf blower & I will park the boat to save my Honda warranty (already lost the warranty on the boat recently). With all the money I will save on fuel, I will be better prepared for the inflation that is sure to come! Please forgive this post, I just need to blow now and then.

Joe -- This Iowa Boy says you are ---- TOTALLY RIGHT! You forgot a couple of consequences/absurdities. The run-off with all the fertilizers and chemicals we use to grow that fuel-corn flows down the Mississippi and contributes to devastating effects in the Gulf. Also, the production of one gallon of ethanol requires the use of an incredible amount of water. No one with a true and intelligent and agenda-free regard for the environment favors ethanol. Like too many things in our culture, it comes back to "just doing business." When those who care and have their priorities straight ignore the great liberal/conservative divide and unite in favor of clean air, water, and land, we may have a chance to preserve the incredible environment that is ours. Until then, self-interest and allegiance will divide us and blind us as we apply double standards to protect our own turf while sacrificing the other guy's to a higher value.

Regarding "tree huggers" and "Al Snore," we have come a long way on this site from a time when posters referred to other members with ridiculing labels like "watermelons." I hope we can continue to focus on the boats. When we don't, I hope we can disagree with civility and without the nasty, cheap shots that are inherent in derogatory labels.

Regards to all,

Greg
