|
|
The small plastic ends on our Honda 45's indicators clogged several times during our recent 7 day trip, so I came up with an idea.
The inside diameter of the plastic end tips are so small that the clog was always located there. An easy fix, but a pain to deal with repeatedly.
My idea is to do away with the plastic tips, and simply replace the tube with a piece long enough to pass thru the hole in the motor housing, leaving an inch or two hanging out. Any reason why this wouldn't work? The only negative thing I can think of is that the water pressure may try to push the tube back up thru the hole, I could cure that with a zip-tie or something on the outside. _________________ Snal~

snal,
Evinrude did just that back in the late 80's or early 90's. They put a rubber grommet in the hole in the motor pan, did away with the plastic nozzle and let the hose stick out.
The only problem could be if the hose without nozzle lets too much water volume and/or pressure out of the cooling system, resulting in overheating.
If you try it, let us know how it works out! _________________ Larry H
