I offered this book on the Lake Powell thread, but got no takers. If anyone would like "The Very Hard Way - Bert Loper and the Colorado River" by Brad Dimmock, send me a PM.
Dr Bob gave it to me at the Powell Get Together, and it's only right that I should pass it along to another Brat.
A good read about the early days of river running the Colorado drainage. Multiple threads on others in the area, but primarily about Bert Loper. Loper by the way has one of the best quotes ever:
"I ain't old. I've just been around a hell of a long time!"
