Where can I get decraguard?

Best Day

Hi all, I'm starting a project on my boat and would like to use decraguard to match the interior of the boat. I used the search function and found a lot of discussion about different sources but nothing definitive. I live in Southern California and need about a 2'x2' piece of 1/2".

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I can't find the original message but Brat MP McCoy said:

I may have found a retailer who can get the deccraguard.
they are in Tualatin(near Portland OR)

Lumber products
503 692-3322

hope this helps

This the most definitive information I have on the topic. Supposedly you can get it from the factory, but that does not help people who don't live nearby.

I would sure like to buy some without having to drive to Oregon!

Bill,

I usually use Melamine. It's a pretty close match. If you want an exact match, here's a previous post about matching color:

For those of us who live near a Rodda Paint store, WA, AK, OR, ID, there is a good match available. Their code # is SQ07H5169. They can call with this # and get the formula to mix it. They used base# 5330014, an Eggshell interior latex. $11.99/Qt.

Hope this helps, Roger

Roger, where do you buy Melamine? The only melamine I know of is used in plates and such. And doesn't it come in different colors? Seems to me we would be back to square one in matching the colors.

I see there is a Rodda Paint in Oak Harbor, as well as Sequim. Would you paint this over birch plywood or -- ???

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will try the factory and if that doesn't work out call some local marine caninet guys and see what they recommend.

Thanks,
Bill

I emailed <jtuson@olypanel.com>the factory rep for Olypanel the factory that makes decraguard and ask her where I could get some. The factory rep refered me to a local plywood wholesaler. He in turn contacted the decraguard rep and the only thing they could offer me was a nine 4 X 8's that were marred on one side. (all or none) Marked down to $109 per! I got frustrated and quit looking. It appears that in So Cal there is no retailer. There is a guy on the great lakes that is posting pictures of projects he's built with decraguard so it's out there somewhere. I have read posts that say that the C-Dory factdory is offering the old decraguard interior as an option...they might be your best bet

Let me know what happens...please

I found the seafoam Starboard to be a fairly close match to my cabinets. You can get it at your local West Marine although usually in white and 1/2". I wound up buying a piece on E Bay since I wanted 3/4".

It's very easy to work with :thup

In preperation for some small improvements/cabinet work in 'Au Kai, I began searching for some Decraguard. Since I live in WA State I figured SOMEONE had to stock it.

I just got off the phone with the manufacturer, Olympic Panel in Shelton, WA. The gentleman was very helpful, but the news isn't good. Basically, they no longer make the eggshell color and in order to make it, they would have to make 250 sheets, minimum. He said since Bayliner and other manufacturers in WA State are not building boats, his orders have dramatically decreased for eggshell. He said finding anyone who would still have it in stock would be a longshot; he told me to call Tacoma Plywood, but at this point it's not worth the effort/trip. The laminate they used is made by a company called Olon, but he did not have the color code. His best advice would be to match it as close as possible with a color chip chain from Wilsonart or Formica, which was gonna be my backup plan anyway.
