Useful Navigation Applications for Mac

I've been trying to figure out a good computer based navigation solution that allows me to plan routes on my Mac and use it as a backup chartplotter to my Raymarine C80 while on the boat. Today I bought GPSNavX (http://www.gpsnavx.com) and downloaded the free NOAA charts for the PNW. The program seems to work well and is relatively inexpensive. Canadian charts will cost $300 for the Inside Passage to Alaska and I'll buy them after playing around with the program a little bit more and making sure I like it. I also need to get a GPS receiver to plug into the computer and will probably just go with the one recommended by GPSNavX.

One thing I particularly like is the ability to install the software on as many Macs as you own. I'll have it ready to go on both my new MacBook and older MacBook Pro, and will keep the extra laptop in a safe and dry place in case one computer gets broken.

One other neat application that I found is Mr. Tides (http://www.mrtides.com). This is a free program that predicts the tides and will come in handy on the boat.

Anyone else have useful boating related Mac applications they'd like to share?

For my GPS equipped iPhone, I have a tides program ($1), and will be adding a marine chartplotter app ($50) very soon. A very simple and adequate back-up

I have the Tide Widget, a free download here. I love the Mac Widgets. I have Tides, Weather, USGS River Flows, a great Unit Converter, and a bunch more..all available on pressing F12!
