I couldn't find where this has been addressed before. I just received my new Fulton 2500 lb replacement trailer jack (with footplate), just like my original that lasted nearly 10 years (can't complain)! The jackscrew finally froze up from rust apparently.
It worked so well for so long I never got around to pumping it full of grease to surround the jackscrew with grease, something I've done on previous trailers with great success. That would have greatly delayed or eliminated this problem I'm sure.
But I'd also like to spray the inside of the square tubes (where I can't flush with fresh water) with some kind of protection, like a one-time application. Maybe a tar-like substance that remains pliable -- any ideas?
