time for crab cards

its that time of the year when the state of Washington counts your crab cards, but you have to sent them in or go on line. Please fill them out and send them in so we can have a better season next year.

IF YOU DID NOT CATCH ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO SENDIN YOUR CARD, ITS VERY IMPORTANT,

and here is why. if you dont sent in your card the state will count all the the other card and subtract that number from our quote share for next year. They then figure out the average and assign that number to all the cards that are not sent in. so if you only caught 10 crab all season but the average is 30 and you dont send in your card they will take 30 off the count. if you caught none they take 30 off the count unless you sent in the card. also if you caught none and dont send in the card you are screwing up the average. Please send in your cards.

it has tooken 5 years to force the games to count the cards that we forced them to issue and paid three dollar more to use. the first 4 years they just kept the money and still used the old phone method. Now that we are counting the cards it turns out that the recreational crabbers are not catching near the amount of crab they said we were.

This has lead to next years season being extended and being able to crab on Sunday again. That was with only 30% of the cards turned in. if we can get 50 to 80 % turned in it would be better.

so go online or mail your cards in.

Don't forget about MA13, everything south of the Narrows. It's open until January 1st. We went out Sat-Sunday and got a Dungeness and some rock crab and even heard then spotted a few Orcas off Anderson Island.

I will definitely send in my catch card, it doesn't have much on it.
