If you find yourself in St. Armand circle, by all means go to the Columbia restaurant. We were served the two best crab dishes of my experience, both featuring fresh Stone Crab. One chilled with lemon and drawn butter and the other warm with Cajun spices. I still can't decide which one I liked better.
Venice o Beach, with its offshore coral reef, and Caspersen Beach, where shark teeth are often found. Artists use the teeth and downtown area is interesting like Venice Ave for homes and shops. Venice is close to other places like Sarasota, Ringling Museum, Shelby Gardens, Mote Marine
It is stone crab season. Try them and the soft ones, too. Pink or red shrimp are available. I like blue point crabs. Take drive along the coast to Bradenton.
