Temporary Moorage

Hello all - for the first time we are going to be mooring our boat for three months this summer at Squalicum Harbor. We have never had our boat in the water for more than a few weeks while on extended trips in the San Juans previously. I'm looking for any good suggestions/comments from the group on things to think about prior to putting the boat in the water this long.

I will be adding zincs to the trim tabs and putting a coat of wax on the hull before putting the boat in the water later this week. Any other good tips???

Yes, You should have the bottom painted. Will it be moored or tied to a dock?

I called a moored boat one that is one a mooring buoy. or is your boat at a slip? Either one is correct I just want to know which you are planing to do. Will it be covered? Will it have shore power? Does your boat have shore power? How , if not covered, will you deal with rain water? If not on shore power how will you deal with batteries being drown down by the bilge pumps? Are you seeing a pattern here? if not sell the boat now

Thanks for the reply Tom - to clarify, we will be using a slip (i.e. tied to the dock). The boat will not be under cover, but I will be using a cockpit cover that will keep the cockpit dry during rainy stretches. Are boat is not setup for shore power currently.

Yes, we should go fishing. I'm hoping having the boat already in the water this summer will mean more of that, we will see.
 
If the boat is not bottom painted (as mine is not ) then you should plan to pull it out of the water every 3 to 4 weeks to clean and wax the bottom. That is what we do , just pulled it out after having been in the water for 3 1/2 weeks cleaned right up. Have to agree with Tom about your album ...we should fish from your boat.
