I'm not building anything really. I have a CD22 and have addressed many of the issues regarding screw hole penetrations in my cockpit sole, however I've had a couple spots where I've left wet core (not rotten, just wet) in to be addressed later in one fell swoop.
These are the standard problem spots: mounting points for cabin furniture, fuel tanks, bilge pumps. So I plan to replace the core around some of these spots where it was wet. I basically want to close my eyes every night and not have any thoughts of water penetrating into wood on my boat.
I have several options for marine resources here, but my town is very remote, so specialty items like this are not available. Most of the FG boats here are thick solid glass on stringers (not cored), aluminum or steel. Largely commercial type, so the resources available reflect that. So with a job that requires some materials I can't get, it's best for me to get all of that together so I don't get inot a project, figure out I need something, and have my boat taken apart and sitting on the trailer for 6 weeks while I get a special order specially shipped. I'm not really even thinking about getting into this yet. I'm way more concerned with getting the boat back in the water chasing fins.
