Two minor problems for Bill when time permits next week:

We apparently have lost the slideshow feature again.

And the colored text feature doesn't seem to work:

Thanks Joe - and the guys at work will thank you too! I always have to pick on someone first thing in the morning, and today you let me get it out of the way early.

Have a great day!

Joe -

With the onset of winter have you been less active to the point that perhaps your fingers are getting chubby?

You obviously have your BS Filter set too aggressively. Or maybe not.

I have the filter set on my machine to display only the first four words and the last three of any post by DoD and to completely hide any post of his containing both the words "prop" and "diameter".

Well, Excuse Me! I had no idea I was stinkin' up the place with magnified misinformation and purposeful malfeasance!

On the other hand, maybe I'll just go out and borrow Alasgun Mike's waders to wear when reading Tyboo Mike's posts. Or Jay's chest waders!

Keep it commin'! My wife makes beautiful flowers out of it!

OK, this is a MacBook, I think the colors are working fine, and Joe's posts do not display on my machine while mine do...

Same for me, on a Mac Pro. Pat comes through red & loud, and Joe is all subdued and full of code that doesn't work.

When you use the quote feature, you can see some or all of the bad coding.

It has a whole bunch of #44444's in it!

Does that explain anything?

That certainly explains why things are not displaying correctly but does not explain how the above crap got there. What, exactly are you doing to insert colored text?

Roger-

Just the normal procedure of highlighting the text desired with the mouse, then going to the "color" drop-down menu, and clicking on the color desired, such as "red".

Has always worked before that way.

Thanks for any help!

Joe.

TEST

MAGIC!

I GOT THE ABOVE TO WORK BY DOING THE STANDARD PROCEDURE AND THEN MANUALLY DELETING THE #44444 AND THE EXTRA PARENTHESIS AND /'S.

I HAVE RE-BOOTED BEFORE W/O SUCCESSFUL CHANGE.

WILL COME BACK AND EDIT THIS POST IN FIREFOX INSTEAD OF SAFARI AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

********************************************

FIREFOX TEST

So it works OK in Firefox, but not in Safari! Guess I need to clean up/update/replace my Safari program !?!?!?

Note: the Automatic spellcheck program that magically appeared last week in Safari that underlines spelling errors with red dots doesn't appear in Firefox.

That program sees coded information as a spelling error and underlines these coded "spelling errors" with red dots. Maybe the extra #44444 and various parentheses and/'s are the code for spelling errors, and are going into/onto the code and screwing up the result? Seems logical, of course.

Next question: where, when, and how did the spelling error feature get into Safari???

Joe.

P.S. : cute when you mispell "spelling errors" and get "speeling errors"!

(More Jabberwocky!)

WOW !
I know I'm a considered by some family members as computer illiterate but this is the first time that I've been totally clueless as to what people are talking about on a chat board. :embarrased

I think I need to bond with my kids more. :smilep
