Site Enhancement - Recent Photos

On the home page, there is now a section with links to the 10 photo albums with the most recent activity. It also lists photo album statistics - number of albums, and number of photos.

It's better than nothing, but it does come with a few caveats:
  • The creation of a new album counts as "new activity", so don't be surprised if you click on an album, only to see nothing in it. This just means the person requesting the album has yet to put anything in it.
  • An album gets listed if any activity happens in it - not just new photos. For example, if you change/edit descriptions, that will trigger the "new activity" flag.
  • It's not "real time" - a script checks the photo albums every so often, and updates the statistics. If you add photos or make changes, your album should be in the list within an hour.

Hi Brent and Dixie,

We (Mike or I) have to create the photo albums, but once done, they're yours to play with to your hearts' content.

You can always navigate to your album via the "Photo Albums" link at the top of all pages. Look in the "Our C-Dorys" album for Cygnet - they are in alphabetical order. Or, if you just want to bookmark it, your new album is here - click the "add photos" link, and follow the bouncing ball.

I went ahead and named your album after your login name, if you would prefer it be something else, it's easy for us to change. Have fun!

Bill, I was trying to find info on the upcoming SBS. I did find it, and am trying to see whether my wife and I can attend it, but it did lead me to a suggestion for a topic on the home page.........how about a topic entitled "coming events". It would give fair warning to those who are not on the site daily, to what might be happening in the near future....just a little food for thought. I know that it is easy to always think of additional niceities that a program might include. Thanks, Ron (aka "digger" on Snoopy-C)

That is a great idea, Ron. Bill does all the front page stuff (that's what he does - he's a professional Poob), so he'll have the final say on such matters. But, I think it would fit nicely in a little box between the Who's Online and the Poll.

Bill would have to keep it updated, but hey, what else does he have to do? He ain't got no boat, his wife only lets him in a couple of rooms in the house, he drives a Ford when it runs so he don't travel much, and he has a computer next to the toilet. He should be able to fit it in.

Seriously, it is a good plan. It would only need updating once every couple of weeks or so, and if it is an easy addition, maybe we can talk him into watching after it when he does the picture change on the front page and other nerd stuff. Keep in mind, though, that he has to type a bunch of gibberish to make things happen to the front page, and it might be a while before he gets time.

It will be great to finally meet you at the SBS. Show your wife the website for the Larkspur and tell her you want to take her there for a relaxing mini-vacation to unwind after the holidays. She probably won't fall for it, but it will demonstrate how much you want to go.

Hey hey - low blow! Go back to your corner while your victim recovers.

Good idea. I feel a little guilty about all the other suggestions that have fallen by the wayside, but I really like this one, and I think it will be very easy to implement. So I'll probably move it to the top of the list.

That's it, Mister. The truck gloves have come off.

So...tell me about that namby pamby front fender you guys have on your new Dodges. What a bunch of sissies. Real men drive Ford's, and have bumpers that look like this.

Oh - and don't worry. I won't gloat too much after using that nice winch up front to help you Dodge boys up the hill when you get stuck.

The front end on the newer Fords looks strikingly similar to the Dodge. Wonder why?

I had a winch on the front of a Ford once. Had to use it quite often, too. The new rig doesn't need a winch.

So that when you saw that truck quickly over-taking you in your rear-view mirror, you wouldn't feel so bad. You'd just think it was another Dodge.

Dang - getting old. Took me over 5 minutes to come up with that one, and it ain't all that good... :xseek

Now don't get me started Bill. I see that Ford has a new option on their trucks. Extra hood latches mounted in the glove compartment. They say they last at least a year. :wink

Yea, like he doesn't even have a boat to keep him busy.
Man, Cheers - you fight almost as dirty as TyBoo.

Well, just for you guys, I decided another upgrade was a little more important. You all have inspired me to add a new emoticon.

:xlol Jeese, guys, I hope that I didn't start something here. But I suppose that with all this action, a new C-Dory option should probably be one of those Moon Roofs. :moon

I don't see this section of the page working any longer. I only see the word updated repeated like this,

updated:
updated:
updated:
updated:
updated:

Am I alone or are others seeing this as well?
