Salmon for Soldiers is a not for profit 501(c)3 that will be hosting over 300 Veterans/guests on August 29th at the Port of Everett Marina. We are in need of more boats/Captains to make that happen. I would like to invite the C-Dory community to come and join the team. To see what we do, please visit salmonforsoldiers.com and on Facebook. To sign up, you can email Randy Shelton at cabincreekadventures@yahoo.com or give me a call at 425.330.0415. Thanks so much! :thup

I am signed up this year.
Looking forward to this great event. Cool to see our boat in the middle of the picture as we cruised out for the 2014 event.

How many C Dorys can we get for 2015. Would be cool to have a bunch!

I highly recommend anyone that can make themselves available for the event, do so. We did it last year and it was one of the highlights of the year. Very well organized and put together. A simple day on the water truly meant the world to the vets. I know a few C-Brats joined in last year, would be great to see more this year!

Travis,

If you need a deckhand, I can do.... otherwise I can enter my boat again. It was good time last year

Chromer- Deckhand position is open and yours if you want. I haven't fished out of Everett for years and could use someone with local knowledge. At least the pinks should be running. I love pinks… they make me feel like I know what I'm doing! PM me with your contact info and I'll add you to my registration.

Thanks for the offer,
Travis

The more boats the better! I think Randy said they have a wait list of vets already and it still 5 months out.

Anyone else participating this year?
Hopefully the weather gods will be good to everyone as I really want to get these soldiers into some fish, pinks, coho it doesn't matter.

Should be a great day! I am planning to get a spot on Dock 6 Friday and staying on the boat overnight.

"The Salmon for Soldiers Fishing Derby has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions forecasted for Saturday. "

Thank you Patrick, Troy, Travis and others from this forum for volunteering your time and equipment. Maybe next year!

Thank you Dwight!

My crew and I stayed Friday night at moorage and we all got up early as the word was out that some vets would be coming to go fishing. We met up in the morning as coffee was still served at 5 am.
We took Josh and his wife Kristin, both US Navy Seabees Vets out in the morning while the weather was fishable. Got 4 pink salmon in the box and then came in when the winds increased.
It took 3 tries to tie up at the boat as gusts were coming in like crazy. Travis from Great Republic wanted to go and fish, but USCG and Salmon for Soldiers shut down any fishing. I guess we just got to go out before the shut down.

The barbecue and awards ceremony went off at 12 noon with a packed house. Lots of neat speeches and words of thanks and recognition for the vets in attendance and the current board for SFS and great sponsors.

Will do it again next year for sure and hope weather will cooperate so everyone can get out and catch some salmon.

I took a ferry from Bremerton to Seattle landing about noon, and it took three tries for it to land and tie up. But I was impressed with how sharply it was done, despite taking more than one try.

such a bummer the fishing got canceled. i'm glad the BBQ was still done. i heard it was an impactful event once again. can't wait for next year already.

but, since when does a gale blow through in august?
