SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR SUZUKI OUTBOARD MOTORS
SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION HAS ISSUED RECALLS ON THEIR SUZUKI
DF200, DF225, AND DF250 OUTBOARD ENGINES IN JULY 2005.

THE JULY 2005 VOLUNTARY RECALL, AS OUTLINED IN SERVICE
BULLETIN, EFFECTS SUZUKI DF200, DF225, AND DF250 OUTBOARD ENGINES WITHIN A CERTAIN SERIAL RANGE. EFFECTED ENGINES MAY HAVE A FLYWHEEL CAST WITH INCORRECT MATERIAL AND MAY EXPERIENCE FLYWHEEL BREAKAGE WITHOUT WARNING DURING ENGINE OPERATION. IF THE FLYWHEEL BREAKS, DEBRIS FROM THE BROKEN FLYWHEEL MAY BREAK THROUGH THE FLYWHEEL COVER AND ENGINE COVER, POSSIBLY CAUSING SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY.

THE ENGINE MODELS AND SERIAL NUMBERS POSSIBLY EFFECTED ARE
LISTED BELOW.
MODEL ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER RANGE
DF200T 20001F-421546 THROUGH 421911
DF200Z 20001Z-421114 THROUGH 421149
DF225T 22501F-421292 THROUGH 421690
DF225Z 22501Z-421084 THROUGH 421192
DF250T 25001F-422026 THROUGH 422417
DF250Z 25001Z-421296 THROUGH 421384

IF THE SERIAL NUMBER FALLS WITHIN THE POSSIBLY EFFECTED RANGE
LISTED ABOVE, NOTIFY AN AUTHORIZED SUZUKI DEALER TO SCHEDULE A RECALL INSPECTION OF THE FLYWHEEL.

All dealers have known this for about /over two months. Unless you are on the road, you would have already been contacted by the dealer.
If you have the engines in question, there is a test the dealer will do to check the flywheel integrity. The biggest East Coast dealer told me he has tested 6 engines and they all passed.
Not sure how many 25' Cruisers with a 200hp Suzuki are out there, but I'm sure you would have been contacted by now.
Keep up the good work!
Fair winds...
John
