Roof to cabin wall sealing

I don't know if any one else has noticed this but on my cc there was a gap between the outer cored wall and the roof.[urhttp://www.c-brats.com/albums/Sea-Struck/IMGP1617.thumb.jpgl]
Even though it is sealed with fiberglass on the inside of the cabin and protected by the overhang water still gets sprayed up under there when waves hit or washing. It took an extension on the caulking tube but I went around the entire cabin and sealed it with black silicone.http://www.c-brats.com/albums/Sea-Struc ... .thumb.jpg[/url] bob
sorry I guess the pictures are not coming thru, but they are in the album

Bob,

The C-Dory roof has apparently had caulk on the exterior since at least 1984; that's how my boat was done. I'm guessing that the roof was only glassed on the interior because 1) that's all the structure needed, 2) fiberglass tabbing on the exterior would look crappy on top of the nicely gelcoated cabin wall. It sounds to me like you took the appropriate course of action.

It looks like you did a good job. That is a common issue with C-Dory and one I had addressed before it left the dealership. They just need to run some good caulking and you are good to go.

Looks like you did a good job.....i think i will do that also. There are a couple of annoying rattles/vibrations coming from the bulkhead where it meets the roof/walls of the cabin.. Maybe that might fix it. Tug
