need help on my autopilot sysytem. the problem is the unit does not know where it is. the dash display jumps all over the place 5 240 156 etc. I checked for interference, wires not seeing any reason for it. it did work before just didnt use it much.It appears to hold steady sitting on land. used boat and came with it, so I really dont know a lot about it. first boat with AP

I can't solve your problem, but I send the damaged/broke Raymarine units to: Raymarine Repair. They also tell you what the flat rate repair cost is: Raymarine Repair Costs. I've had good luck with their repair, both for autopilots and other instruments. Sent an anemometer in and they sent a new one back for the repair cost.

Their telephone number is: (603) 881-5200, but they don't diagnose your problem over the phone.

When ever I had a problem with my auto pilot st 6001 I would go thru the install program and recalibrate it as if a new install. Need to be on the water for it to work.

If that does not work call raymarine while in the boat and on the water and they will help you ckeck things out. They always asked if it recalibrated yet. If that does not work them most lileky you have a short or the computer has gone out. Take it out and send it to them. There turn around time was really fast. Less then a week from my house back to my house. I put off calling and sending the unit because I just knew it was going to take forever and I was going to get jacked around by costumer service. I was wrong, best tech support I have ever had.

Since Flir bought them the change is dramatic. You don't say the age of the pilot. 06-09 was tough with raymarine. Lotta lotta issues. Reboot your system check your gps is getting a fix. Many raystar antennnas failed out of the box. If you have gps fix, check cabling to pilot for heading sensor. A big one to check is battery voltage. Many units are super sensitive to a little low battery. Get used to calling Raymarine tech support. Be sure to have the number aboard. And get the tech name so you can reach back. While at west marine we had their tech support on speed dial as from 06 to 09 we were on many times per day! Ouch. Good luck. George
