Profile Updates and Our C-Dorys List

Click on your Profile, and you'll be in for a nice surprise. There are now several new C-Dory specific fields for you to fill out.

Why do so? Cuz it's fun! Also, you'll get the following:

- All your posts will include a subset of your C-Dory information under your user ID - look to the left of this post to see what I mean.

- Members who view your profile will see all your C-Dory details

- Filling in your profile is what populates the "Our C-Dory's List" - links are at the top of every page.

As time permits, I'll start updating users' profiles who filled out things at the MSN site, but please - don't wait for me, jump on in and do it yourself!

Have fun...

That's cool. I like it.

I didn't see the field for the photo album link. I have to go to work soon, so I didn't spend much time looking, but it shouldn't be hard to find, should it?

I decided that this Profile update was more important than work, so I called in.

Now then, I was able to sneak in the back way and add the photo album link, but the field still doesn't appear when I click Profile. How the Helen O did Helen O do it?

(Oh - and the reason I called in to work has more to do with sloppy, icy roads and Kay needing to get to town this morning than it does with this. I'll go to work a little late.)

A request for those of you filling out your profiles...

When sorting via the "Power" field, it will work much better if we stick with a standard way of entering our outboard information. Please enter it as follows:

Manufacturer HP WhateverElseYouWant

I've just updated the entries for some of you who did it differently - take a look at the Our C-Dorys List to see what I mean.

It turns out this is more important than work. The durn road was closed two miles up the hill from the plant, and after an hour of sitting, I went home. I'll whine about it on the weather topic.

Larry -

That was old Bill who fixed you up. That field is only available to the Administrators because it dorks things out to have it otherwise. Bill is so enamored with the penguin, that he allows himself to be shackled to its constraints. He and I will get everyone with an album fixed up sooner or later.

Speaking of getting fixed, poor little Skipper is having a rough day.

I was wondering how that was done-- couldn't seem to do it myself. Guess I'm just not nerdy enough
It's a secret...

Without going into the gory tech details, I haven't been able to figure out a way to allow everyone to configure their photo album link in their profile. Problem is, if you do it wrong, it completely messes up the format in the forums.

With the varying degrees of technical prowess around here, I decided to make the field hidden in your profile - only Mike and I can currently add the link. Shouldn't be a huge problem - whenever we set up new albums, we'll add the link. Also, as I peruse the forums, when I see somebody with no link in place, I add it.

Bill

I admit this was a surprise:

Parse error: parse error, expecting `')'' in /home/cbadmin/public_html/includes/usercp_register.php on line 957

Was that what you had in mind?

Way to go, Chuck. I think you just busted it!

What were you doing when you got that goofy error message?

Oops...

The nerd is on it.

On edit...
The nerd has fixed it. Amazing what one missing comma in a thousand lines of code can do...

Speaking of specifics. How come, you don't have "22-Classic" to select!---From the C-Dory history I have gathered from all the participating contributing members here, there is was no "Angler" model, till the "Cruiser came out in 86-87 sometime!! ..... huh!! :disgust

Well, I'm going to defer to your superior wisdom regarding C-Dory chronolgy, there RF - folks can now select 22 Classic, and I tweaked your profile for you... :beer

I got to hand it to you, Bill. The Our C-Dorys list is top of the line! Not only does it list all the info neatly, and allow it to be sorted by different fields, but getting the info on the list is much more efficient than the way we had to do it on MSN.

I was kind of disappointed that there was no model category for the "25 Cruise Ship", but I think me and SteveJ will learn to live with that.

Is there an easy way to number the list, like the Memberlist? That way we could tell at a glance how many folks have yet to fill out their info.

I like it - I like it a lot. I am sure Jon is pleased, as well (he invented it). I bet even CLou likes it since you stuck her color column in there.

Bah - no need to live with it, piece of cake to add. Done, and both of your profiles have been updated.
