Did they sell more gallons or did they sell the same number of gallons for a lot more money? You quoted sales figures only which does not tell us anything about how many gallons they sold? In the end they sold their product for a lot more money because they could. I suppose anyone would if they could. I have never worked for a for-profit operation so I really can't say what I would have done. I do know one thing: once it has gone up it never comes back down!
 
OK... I gotta know this... just how similar are the basic operations of a refinery, and say..... a whiskey still back in the woods?

And, if they are close... how many rednecks would it take working together to refine there own "batch of fuel" and again....simply avoid all the taxes on fuel?

Just thought I'd stir the pot a pit.....I mean barrel.

Byrdman, last night on the TV news they did a segment on some enterprising gents in your neck of the woods that are assembling and selling stills for the manufacture of fuel for vehicles......and yes they admit that what they are selling is nothing more than moonshine stills and the end product is moonshine. Obviously, they even warned of the volitility of their product. Apparently, they are working hard to keep up with the orders that are coming in. When the final batch is brewed it is mixed in the fuel tank of the vehicle with a certain amount of unleaded fuel from the gas station. The end result being a considerable savings in fuel costs. (This obviously doesn't take into consideration the cost for their still or the risk in brewing the product).

(Of course if the "brewmaster" were "consuming" an adequate amount of his batch, he probably wouldn't be too worried about the risk factor... :disgust )
