pinstripe?

I will have to repaint the bottom of my new used 19. The hull has a nice small approx 1/4 inch pinstripe just above the paint line. When I pressure washed the boat pieces of that pinstripe went by by. Question: is the pinstripe paint or applied tape and was it put on at the factory. Anyone know the standard practice?

It is 1/4 inch tape. Depending on the color, most large automobile parts and accessory stores carry it. I think I got my last roll at Autozone. I have also purchased some online.

Tape -- yes. Factory ...ahh most likely not, but not impossible, just not gel coat or paint.

Have considered doing that because I like the look, but have not done it for the very reason you are asking now.

We had 2 stripes around the cabin top of our Venture that were badly worn, to the point they ceased to exist in some areas and seemed weather burned in others. After puttering with the material I determined it was tape and not paint. I then found some marine grade 1/4 inch vinyl and retaped the area 1 year ago. It still looks like new and the job only took about 10 minutes. We are very happy with it. We actually changed the color from the original and used a dusty silver color that has a subtle biege tint to it in the sun. There are a lot of color choices though. It was hard to see the real colors on the computer screen so I called the company and they were happy to send me a color pamphlet at no charge. The minimum tape length available is 150 feet so there is more than enough to work with. I bought from a company named Stripeman:

With this said, I have no idea how well it will work for a waterline. Maybe the company can speculate in this regard?
