PFD love

Hello all,

I recently participated in a very sad Search and Rescue in which a commercial fisherman (stuck in port due to a gale) took his young step son out on a small zodiac.

Long story short, they capsized and the kid (wearing a life jacket) made it to a cabin where he was rescued by the USCG. Unfortunately he was the only one. We found his Step Dad about 50 feet away a week later after troopers and USCG had given up the search.

I end up doing this type of thing every other year or so near town.

Most auto accidents happen close to home, and it seems out here a lot of our boating fatalities do too. A PFD would have made the difference for every body I've helped recover, without exception. The one we never found, we know to have not been wearing a PFD, as he was observed falling in, and never seen again.

Please make good decisions and everyone please come home safe!!!!
