Wow, beautiful fish. How deep was he fishing? What kind of bait or lure? Circle hooks? Reel? I didn't go out for halibut this spring for the first time in four years.... oh well, nice to see they're still biting. C.W.

I’m guessing, South Culross? Great looking butt, :thup we’re going out to Knight this weekend and hope to catch a couple of the flat beasts.

I have not be out this year but a good friend has nailed a 135 lber here in the sound. Then the next week his wife got a 165 lber to thte boat in the same area.

I would like to do some fishing for halibut the weekend after next from the Tillamook area, or Columbia river - anyone have some GPS coordinates they would be willing to share? We last left out of Newport but that was a real experience. Just after the fingers things got real bad. The coast guard reported 3ft, heading out the real results were 4ft w/ 2ft coppers at 3secs. We had waves breaking and bringing water up onto the roof line!! :disgust Waves breaking from the front, port and starboard - needless to say we didn't get to the fishing ground - we both listened to our instinct and turned around back into the bay. Good choice, many boats just after followed our lead. Long story short, I was hoping this next try would be closer to home and maybe we can find a spot that has previous shown good results. :thup

not sure, but I think the Columbia is closed for Halibut but open for salmon...use caution on that Columbia river bar, it can change quickly and make Newport look like a vacation.
