Outboard starter source

Just wanted to pass along a recommendation. My 60 Mercury sat for 4 years, and when I installed it on the CD16 all I got was a click. A little troubleshooting determined it was the starter, so I went looking for a solution...

Prices ranged from $227 new from Mercury to $100 rebuilt. On Ebay I found a company called DB Electrical. $79.46, new, delivered FedEx Ground. I just installed it and it works perfect.

The proof will be how long it holds up, but it is a well-made piece. I'll be rebuilding the original for a spare when I get a moment...

Cheers!

John,
Thanks for posting the "lesser expensive" alternate source for starter motors. This is very good information and based on it being an "eBay" advertiser, lets assume the company would be reliable and responsive. Unless there is already a "file" for vessel and motor parts on the website, I think creating one would be a real asset to those who "do it themselves"!
