I'm sometimes reminded of the intro to Cheers, that 80's sit-com smash featuring semi-diverse citizens in need of friends and conversation.

I like the part where all bar patrons politely shout, "Norm!"
That was a place where everyone knew your name.

Well, hell, it wasn't that long ago. What's a couple-a decades? I mean, aside from some wrinkles, hair loss, a divorce to go through, life's routine pain and a pound or two. And still, that dang song plays a tune, it's true.

Ha ! Catman....I think anyone who ever met you remembers your name.... I have only met you a few times yet consider you an old friend.... I would put you in that group with "Norm" anytime...

Hey Catman, et al-

It's all true. And one thing I think we miss is the face-to-face feedback from each other that is missing on this cyberspace medium. That's why the Boat Show and CBGT in Seattle in January is so important. Not to mention the escape from the winter doldrums it provides. See ya' in Seattle! Joe.

I remember feeling so welcome the first time I posted on this site and then the first gathering we attended. While we didn't know all the faces, we certainly knew the names and a little bit about each other. We even found some old friends on the site.

Whew! Made it through another week. The 'gators left me tattered but still standing.

Remember Lurch? I liked Lurch. 'Member how he quietly reacted to people and situations that were really kooky? Yeah, last few days I felt like Lurch a few times.

Hi Folks,

I think this site has done a great service of introducing a group of people who are diverse, but have one common thread, a love of a sensible cruising craft, that is affordable and versatile. We have cruisers and fishermen, and just folks that want to hang out around water.

Terry (Last Dance) suggested to me that the seattle Boat Show is the place to go where we can meet the people we meet here, in person.

The cruisers like the Erie Canal cruise of the last two September's gave us a chance to meet new people, including a chance to cruise with El and Bill.

The first cruise we had in New England was at Moby Dick Marina in New Bedford Harbor. Rick and Carol, Dun and Becky, Dave and Valerie, and a few people I have not seen since showed. We ate good meals, and went to Cuttyhunk. We are still good friends.

Meeting at the Providence Boat Show in the winter led to another good meal, and new friendships.

Seattle Boat Show will be a must, some time in the future. When, I can not say at this time.

This is a good thread "Norm".

Fred-

That's EXACTLY WHY I first went to the Seattle Boat Show---to meet my C-Brat friends face-to-face and make everything more personable.

This January will be my third trip, and I can tell you that it's a wonderful experience to meet all these folks in person. Makes everybody much more complete, knowing them from conversation face-to-face, etc.

We've got about 55 boats signed up so far for this year's show! Anybody else going to join us?

Hope to meet you, Fred, at a subsequent meeting, sometime!

Joe.

Roger, be careful with that conformity thing; I've found it seductive.

Get a haircut and squeak here, it's likely we can hear.
