I just saw this in a West Marine ad. In brief, it's a new Ray Marine chart plotter/sonar/radar that connects via a wireless network to iPhones or iPads to allow you to view the charts, sonar etc. from the mobile device. It also integrates with the Navionics apps to allow you to wireless transmit your routes from the iPad/iPhone to the main unit. It looks like a pretty sweet device.

Raymarine has also unveiled completely new C and E series displays in 9 and 14 inch sizes with similar features. Having used both iPhones and iPads on the boat and struggled with getting data transferred between my Raymarine (C80 classic) MFD and iOS devices, this is much appreciated.

Apparently Raymarine is working to make it possible for iOS devices to control the MFD in addition to simple display mirroring.

Furuno just introduced NavNet TZ which looks promising and will have fuller iOS support than what Raymarine currently offers.

I believe Garmin and Navico (Simrad, Lowrance, B&G) also already have wireless iOS integration or soon will.

Lots of progress in this area and software updates should continue to improve the functionality of all brands. Ben Ellison writes about this stuff extensively on his blog (www.panbo.com) and it's interesting reading.
