Mark,

Shrink ray? That and careful planning!

Okay, just went out to Valkyrie, swept off the foot of snow and used hot water to thaw the snaps.

In the aft storage the Fortress (with carabiner attached to quickly connect to the spare rode) is on the floor, canned goods (on their sides) would surround the anchor (not now when it's freezing) and the canvas (window covers and camper sides) go on top of that. Foul weather gear is shoved around the edges and into the void. Seat is then replaced, sometimes forcefully.

I was wrong about the mooring cover and fleece blanket. They go elsewhere. Sorry about that. Just wanted to clear that up.

By the way, you can buy your own shrink ray after I get the patent registered.

Hey Nick, I meant the shrink ray as a compliment - you get even more stuff in there than me. I didn't know until this thread that the storage under the port, stern, seat had been reduced. I keep a danforth anchor (emergency and stern anchor) in this area. Also two spare propellers, and some misc fishing stuff. Depending on the trip I add more clothing or fishing stuff to this area. Except for the anchor I don't need quick access to anything I put under this seat or between the tank and hull so you can cram a lot of stuff in there. As I recall on Halcyon this area is Bill's dresser, bureau and shoe tree. El uses the area under the forward seat (with greater affect ) for her wardrobe. Nick gave me the idea to separate the danforth anchor from its rode and keep the anchor under the seat and the rode in the cockpit. The rode can be used for other purposes and with a carabiner type attachment can be quickly attached to the rode.

Nick, when I start feeling human again, I'll go out and take a picture of the storage area under the aft seat...sounds like there are large differences between "then" and "now" boats :wink

Caty

almost human again :) I just went out in the boat and measured:
aftseatstorage.sized.jpg
It's 10 inches deep at the aisle edge and about 2 1/2 inches deep at the wall side...have a throw cushion, 1 life vest (nice flat one) and 2 cases that contain boat manuals...no microwave, no swimming pool, no fridge :smile

This new camera is a challenge for me...I can't get a clear picture for my life!

Looks about the same size as mine. By the way I have had similar problems with my digital camera, after cleaning the lens they came out better. Thing couldn't figure out what to focus on.

I just read the instructions (doh!) and found out mine has a "no-blur" feature...I tried a couple of shots and it seems to work! "when all else fails, . . ."

After seeing the newer version; I'm thankful I have the 2005. With the a/c installed, I still have some room under the seat to store my shore power cords, extension cords and other stuff without impacting on the air flow.

We really appreciated the 20+ gal holding tank during our trip to Lankford, MD last year from VA Beach. At St. Micheals the dock hand indidated that he thought he pumped out 23+ gals. and left VaB empty.

I have 2-300' of line, extra anchor,& fenders, manual hand pump and bridle set under the aft deck. The storage is the big plus for us, including under the gunales. You wouldn't believe what is under the foot rest of the table, passenger side and helm.

I do like the molded rain locker on the newer model. It is clean looking and the head is higher off the deck. The lowness of our toilet was the main reason I added the inside handles on each side of the door to the rainlocker.

a "no-blur" feature...

As opposed to a "blur" feature?

That's real good thing to have in a camera. Kind of like a "no heat" feature in a refrigerator.

That's what Steve and I said to each other...I'd have never looked for such a "feature" -- ya just never know with these new fangdangled thingies.
