Slow day at work so I'm surfing around and found this

I love the way some of them attack the camera.

I am not sure that they are. They look more like arrowtooth flounder to me. Cool video and shots none the less.

You're joking, right? Halibut don't look anything like Arrowtooth. They are very easy to tell apart.

The film was done in alaska.

Heres what to do with them after landing them. cleaning

Nice video. Don't forget the Cheeks ! :moon

JT,
Funny you should mention the cheeks. I always cut them out if the halibut is any size at all. Several times I have seen them for sale in one of our local supermarkets at a higher price than the filets. When I looked at them-they were just small scraps and trimmings from the filets. If you have ever had halibut cheeks they have a very distinctive texture and grain pattern to them. When I told the manager that what he was selling was not halibut cheeks he said they bought them from their supplier as cheeks. Just recently I saw them again for sale. Buyer beware.

WOW.........you found my halibut hole.

That clip of the shark-octopus fight is amazing. I wished we had more of them to hlep kill all of those darned gray sharks that steal your bait.

Jack in Alaska...patiently waiting in Arizona for winter to pass

I think they could be either by the footage at hand. That is all I am saying. However, they appear a little less "toothy" than the typical Arrowtooth. While I prefer halibut to eat, Arrowtooth are not all bad either.

I will save all of the arrowtooth I catch for you. Too mushy for me.

Tom,

Could you bring one of those on board your starcraft?

Slow day at work today so I was surfing around on the net,............. when the boss walked in. :male , :embarrased

Thanks! Keep the skate's too. They are great eating in my opinion.

My starcraft was a very fishy boat, never any halibut but fishy.

I'm the boss so who is going to walk in on me? I just wish I was a better employee.? May have to dock myself.

My halibut record is slim. Sark got one in my boat and I got one up north in my boat while fishing for salmon.

Neah Bay shouldn't disappoint you. While I now live in Alaska, I have caught some nice fish there. I remember people telling my how I needed a bigger boat than my CD 22 to fish out that way when I live down your way. Now I fish in the open Gulf of Alaska and it can be way worse than anything I had ever been in in Washington. The CD 22 is a great boat with oustanding capabilities.
