A lot of people (OK, well a few...) have asked me about my seat mod which provides an alternate bottom seat cushion location 6 inches towards the aisle -- seats 4 people at the table more comfortably. This makes use of the cushion portion tucked under the dead area of the outside walk-around ridge. The trick is to fab some sort of retainer so when you stick the cushion out more into the aisle, it doesn't flip up at the other end when you sit on the now cantilevered portion sticking into the aisle.
I limited it to about 6 inches because any more begins to interfere with two people squeezing by in the aisle. I also extended (rebuilt) the table to be another 7 inches longer (cost for materials at Home Depot, $10).

There are 2 retaining pins per seat, fore and aft edges of each seat, this is a drywall screw inserted into the wood, then head cut off and rounded with a dremel cut-off wheel (sorry a little blurry):
