If I wanted to store and launch my boat prior to Friday Harbor, where would one suggest? La connor vs anacortes? which marina would be best. Also
if I would use the boat, maybe one week a month through the summer, would it be better to have a slip vs storage on a trailer.

Hi Rob,

I have not used them, but many of the Brats have, and if I were doing what you are looking at I would sure consider the drystack storage at Twin Bridges. It is super convenient for that type of usage, no bottom paint required and they will probably store your trailer. The only drawback I see to them is the lack of battery charging capability when in the stack.

LaConner you can dry store and have I believe 5 in and outs a month for just over a hundred bucks, also no electrical to the dry store area. My tug is dry store in Anacortes, but it's 300 for set up on blocks and about 150/month including electric to the boat.

Rob,
If you want dry storage the twin bridges is nice, very convenient, but a little $. If you would leave it in a marina in the water, then Anacortes or Bellingham would be good.
I don't know where to leave it on the trailer, I'd check with Bellingham. Squalicum marina.

But. Is it a pain to always take the channel to get to open water

Sometimes when there's lots of boat traffic it can be pretty rough. Or if you want to head south, that's a long slow trip at no-wake speed. Otherwise, I say no, it's not a pain.

You might also want to consider Hilton Harbor in Bellingham if you don't mind the longer drive. Easy access to the San Juan's and storage on your trailer is $250/month with unlimited ins/outs. Water and electricity are included. We kept our tomcat there and we're very happy.

I would look at launch is store in skyline marina which is the closest . For short term its ok . Not much more than if not cheaper anacortes.

Here's what Carole and I did last summer. We live in Bellingham and launch Squalicum Hrbr. Launch fee is $7 bucks. We stayed out for over a month, storing truck and trailer in their overflow lot next to the Coast Guard station. The only requirement by the harbor was to provide license plate of truck, approximate date of return and cell phone number. When we returned to pick up our equipment the port was again notified....all for $7.

The port is making ramp and wash down inprovements, which should be done before begining of season.
