Late report but here it is. Sorry, no pics forgot the camera.
Saturday June 8, 2009.
After a late start, we finally launched from the Monterey CG ramp at 8AM.
Rounded Pt. Pinos and dropped in the lines for a few blacks. Picked up and ran south. Fished between Pt. Lobos and Pt. Sur. Kept 15 quality blacks and coppers for a crew of 3.
It was the first ocean run and conditions in the AM were FLAT! 2x14 from the south. In the afternoon, winds produced 2x9 from the west ontop of the building southerly swells. The boat handled beautifully and not a drop onto the windshields! Made 18-21 kts back to the ramp with no bouncing. Love it!
We saw a whale breach 30 yards from us...a spectacular sight, and a sea otter enjoying a crab while basking in the Monterey sun. The seals were out in full force stealing your cod and taking residence at the launch ramp. I've never seen the California coastline from that perspective and now I want to see more....
Oh yeah, confirmed reports of albacore caught 60 miles SW of Monterey.
