Like to take the new Dory for Halibut at Sekui - is it open?

I just got my first C-Dory from Teri back in Ohio from the "For Sale by Owner" section. It arrived last night. It's a 2001, and after a little testing and having replaced both batteries tonight I'd like to go out for halibut with a buddy this weekend. Local shop told me that there should be some reasonable catching still going on up around Sekui, WA. Does anyone know if that area is still open for Halibut right now or have they reached their limit? I know they are open until they either reach their limit or August 3rd, whichever comes first.

... I'd like to go give it a shot this weekend if possible. Thanks for any info!!!

As far as I know, the Halibut season is still open Thursday - Monday until Aug 3rd. I checked the WDFW site and don't see any emergency closures or anything like that.

If you're going out there, good luck and be safe!

From the email below I would say area 4 is closed but the regs show area 5 as being open Thursdays through Mondays.

Thanks gang! I worked late into the night last night backflushing the carbs, replacing the fuel filter and the water separator filter, etc. but am still having trouble with the engine running rough. It sounds like during the trip out the vibration of the trailering it 2480 miles must have lodged something loose and (I'm guessing) lodged it in the carb jets. Taking it down to the shop to put her in line a bit later if changing out the spark plugs this morning doesn't fix it. For now the halibut will just need to get along without me I guess. :-( Hopefully the spark plugs will do the trick. Thanks for the info on area 5!!!
