Leaky 20 gallon tank

Not For Hire

Three weeks ago I did complete fill up on both tanks for first time. Did not overfill tanks, no gas burped out or came out vent. About an inch of space left in the front of the tanks. Then launched boat and without starting engines moved it to a spot in the marina for overnight. Next am there was gasoline in the cockpit and some in each the midships and stern bilges. Probably a quart or so over all but all over under the carpet and rubber matting I had in at the time. I cleaned it up and launched and burned both tanks down a few gallons. The leak stopped. I discarded the rubber mats and went with dri-dek. I tightened all hoses, clamps, etc.
Filled up again this weekend and monitored the situation. Gas began to seep from under the starboard fuel tank. I could not tell where exactly it was coming from but at least I now know which side. I burned a few gallons off from the starboard tank and no more leak.
And advice on this? I am in Michigan with no factory nor dealer nearby nor responsible. (My mistake, I know). Could it be a connection or vent or something other than a leaky fuel tank? Why only when it is full or almost full? I will be asking Jeff Messmer as well but anxious to get this resolved. It's time for serious salmon fishing in Lake Michigan!

I'm not familiar with built in tanks on the 22. My 25 had leaks from both the fill hose and vent. Very unlikely tank is leaking is my guess. Can you see or feel tank where hoses enter?

Hmmm... I would call the factory directly anyway. I would imagine they could pressure test the tank for you if you sent it in to them. Then when you get it back you can make sure to seal up the hoses really well. But to start with make sure all hose fittings are tight. Double check the hoses to make sure there are no checks or cracks in them. If all looks good then I would pull the tank and send it back to the factory.
