Kind of Proud of Lydia Anderson!

Not a C-Dory topic, so posting in That's Life.

Patty and daughter Lydia have been in Edgewater, Colorado, for a week now (actually in Lakewood at B&E's condo at the moment), went there to find an apartment for Lydia and boyfriend Conor. Need for an apartment due to Lydia's new JOB (read: Bank of Dad is now CLOSED!). After 5 years, Lydia graduated with a degree in Recreation from Western Washington University on June 10th, the day before I left for the Ketchikan trip. Lyd has snagged a plum job, right out of college, as the Director of Parks and Rec for the City of Edgewater, a town of about 5,000 west of Denver. Her office is on Sheridan Blvd, looking directly across Sloan Lake into Denver - in fact from the map, it looks like Mile High Stadium is more or less right across the lake. Officially starts on October 2nd.

We are kind of proud of her!

Way to go Lydia! :thup (The Bank of Loving Fathers, lives on in this house for a few more years....that's what happens when you're an old man with a teenager.... :smiled )

Pat,

I'm SOOOOOO looking forward to the day when I can make a similar post re: my son. As it stands, he's deferred his admission to Reed for a year and won't be startining until fall '07. However, he's working extremely hard at a 60-70 hour a week job (running a dry cleaning store in Bellevue) and he's coming home very tired and irritable each day. My sense is that REAL learning is now taking place with little to no input from me and that college will look real good to him soon.

Well, ahem, we still have Austin, who is 15, so the Bank of Dad is not quite entirely out of business yet!

Yes, a big congrats to Pat and Patti. Lydia has come a long way since I used to get phone calls at the brewery from her at high school looking for her Dad. " I need to leave school and I can't find my Dad, could you tell them its okay for me to leave for a while"
NOT.
And her smile is pretty much an indicator of her personality!

That's great, have you had that talk with her yet....you know, the one about the heavy offspring tax

She's an Anderson, Ken. In that economy, once "Bank of Dad" closes, Granny Credit union begins to fund itself for future events. Trust me, that one NEVER closes....

Congrats to Lydia.

Don

That is just too cool. Congratulations to the whole family!

Mike

Those banks are supposed to close?

Our 28 year old son Barrett was not real sure he wanted to return to Evergreen (sorry Oldgrowth Dave, I LIKE Evergreen, it was great for Barrett) after his first year - until he worked a summer as a desk clerk at a local motel. Then he was ANXIOUS to get back, graduated in 2000, and actually we are very proud of him too, just didn't have this forum to say so! Two down, one to go!

Thanks, Mike - and thanks for giving us "That's Life," where this kind of post is not off topic!!!! And I am not really sure whether those banks are SUPPOSED to close, but we are kind of counting on it...

Pat and Patty,

Congradulations, two down, one to go! Austin's next!

Let's see 22-15 = 7 years

59 + 7 = 66

That is, unless he decides to go to Law or Graduate School,.......

Plan on working for a few more?

Maybe the Bank of Uncle Don would be interested in a long term loan/investment?

Congradulations, guys!

Well done, Lydia!!!

Yes, well, the math would indicate about 7 more, no? And that is in fact sort of the plan...Had breakfast recently with Dusty, though, and was encouraged! Plus, it may be heresy, but I really sort of like my job(s). I expect to NEVER retire from the brewery...

Bank of Dad never really closes. It may in monetary form, but not in other ways. My dad is 76 years old, and rigs up all kinds of stuff for my Checkpoint II, a CD 19.

Geez Pat ,Imagine that!! I used to live in Edgewater, 20th and Harlan, befrore I moved to the Northwest in '90... Loved that little town surrounded by about 3 million people though. Congratulations to Lydia and You and Patty !!
