Kalama area fishing.

Well as some of you know I headed down to kalama to fish for springers with my fishing club. To keep it short, it sucked. Out of ten boats ,with two guides, in our club we boated "0" fish for two to four days of fishing. I saw 4 fish caught all weekend and two of those were on the same boat. To add to my pain my wallace took a dump on sunday morning just in time for the cold front that moved in. It would not light and was leaking fuel out the bottom of the combution chamber. I pulled the unit and ran it into seattle for the guys at scan marine to take a look at it. I have had poor performance with this unit since it was new.
Which brings me to a question. the scan marine guys said that i have to have a hole in the counter front above the doors so the unit can get enough air. How many of you have this, and how many do not? was the factor suppose to do this and forgot? I will be doing the hole my self this week. I just have to find a good grill cover to place in the hole.
A fish checker was harmed after informing the fisherman in the parking lot at kalama, that the cathlamet area had 46 fish for 53 boats checked. Some poeple should learn to keep that kind of new to them selves.

Tom,
Sorry to hear the fishing stunk! Long drive to get skunked. And having problems with the wallas. You should have some good fishing karma on the way. Are you planning on doing any bottomfishing? Should be a good meeting tonight. Maybe I'll see ya there.

Sark

Well maybe harmed is a little strong, but it was close. Sark i will be there tonight. I know little about bottom fishing and Iam not sure I have the right gear. I do not have rods for halibut and due to a lack of work the past few weeks I don't have the funds to get any. I would be willing to take out those that do have the gear but not the boat. I will take to you tonight.

Arrrg, sounds like the pits, that's bullarky on the stove, that sumbitch should be working good on that new boat. I drove by Kalama a few times last weekend, saw many a rig in the parking lot, it reminds me of why I don't get out on the river much on the weekends....But watch out, here in a few months we'll living close to the marina so I'll be going out and getting skunked real regular on weekdays :)

sounds like you liked the new house. Whens the moving/fishing derby date? The stove is really pissing me off. the scan marine guys are working on it and no call yet. I'll give then till wensday before i call. Do you have a vent in the front of your cabinet?

The house is just a house, I like the idea of being able to park the boat in a shop and being close to the marina. Ya sure the stove will be fixed but ya shouldn't have to put up with the hassel....but, once the bugs are worked out you should have many years of warmth from it. My stove set up is completely different from others so would make a poor comparison.

Tom,

Sorry I missed you this weekend. Bummer on the stove and fishing! I've heard a few reports of some fish being caught but the consensus is that the run just isn't materializing. I've even read a rumor that they may close the fishing on Friday due to the small run size.

BTW: What meeting are you going to? Is that the PSA Meeting in Edmonds?

Tom,
On the Wallas vent, yes mine had a 12" by 1/2" slot above the cabinet doors and just under the counter. You really don't see it unless you stoop down to look.

yes it is the P.s.a. I just got back and won a new shrimp pot.

Yes the vent is suppost to be under the counter but I don't have one. I will be making one tomorrow.

Congrats on the Pot! They looked nice. I left just before the raffle as I had an hour long drive home. Tom is a good speaker and his methods don't look too bad.

Now if I could just convince the wife that I NEED a C-Dory and not a job I would be set! ;) The sled just doesn't have the freeboard for fishing the sound and my back complains for a week after sleeping on it!

Hi ,
I jot back from fishing the Columbia yesterday caught one keeper up on the lewis from the bank . went out on thurday at Warrior rock we caught two, both wild fish and got one right up to the boat and it got off din't get to see if it was wild or not. The first fish was really big and would probably went 25 pounds plus the other two were in the 10 to 15 pound range. The sea lions have been realy bad a guy in another boat lost three to sea lions never did get one in the boat. It seems to be picking up some but the water temp at Warrior rock was 47 so it could be warmer.
