July 17th Albie Report

Decided to make another tuna run to Half Moon Bay again as the weather and warm water moved within range again (42 miles). Launched from Pillar Point Harbor at 4AM and motored out to our numbers in 2 - 3 ft seas with 5' - 15" mph winds. Ran 15 mph for the first 1.5 hrs in the dark, then a light, 20 mph the last 1.5 hrs to our numbers. The first fish came within 45 minutes of dropping lines, then a steady pick of singles. Then around mid morning, the bite really started picking up and we had one stop where all four rods went off...we ended up geting them all in. One of the singles took 30 minutes to get to gaff and it went 38lbs. Lost one to a furbag where all we got was the head. Ended up calling it a day after 14 fish with the average grade about 20lbs. Made it back to PP by 4:30PM.
