Injector cleaners

Hi
My honda 135 is running a little rough and yesterday I had an airplane mechanic on board who said I needed to add some Seafoam to my gas to clean the injectors. Is this a good idea? What other products are out there that will do the same job? Are some better than others?
I changed the spark plugs and that's about all I can do on this engine.

The best product that I have seen for fuel system cleaning is BG 44K. Not usually sold at the auto stores, but used by many dealers.

The latest version of Sta Bil- the marine formula (blue) says it will help clean the fuel system, and it counters the effects of ethanol and prevents the fuel from going stale- which happens very fats these days.
 
I agree on the BG 44K, its a product that works on gas engines. I have found it at non chain parts stores.

I have also used Sea Foam and Diesel Service but not in gas engines and cannot tell you how they would work in your OB
 
I would try a cleaner first
on the flip side, sometimes the injectors needs to be removed, cleaned and tested at FI service center. What motor issues are you having?
 
About 10 years ago when I was working....the best injector cleaner was one put out by Standard Oil.... and sold under the Chevron brand....it was every bit as good as the high priced super cleaners....and easy to purchase at almost any discount auto parts store.....

What we told customers to do....(to save them about $70) was run the tank almost empty....leaving about 2 gallons in the car....then add several cans of Chevron insector cleaner...(about $2.50 a can).... and drive the car....don't let it sit in the system....drive the car until it was on fumes...then go ahead and fill up the tank.....
That way the injector cleaner was strong enough to work...yet did not sit in the system more than an hour or possibly slightly longer...filling the tank diluted any remaining cleaner to a point where it would do no harm...(but at the recommended contrations we too weak to do much good either)..... worked like a charm... possibly better than our $75 service..
(in the service we only ran one can of cleaner through and it normally only took 15 minitues) I think this was better....

I don't see that a marine engine would be any different...in fact you could hook up a remote fuel can where you could inject a 50/50 mix of fuel and cleaner....then switch back to your standard fuel to flush the system of any cleaner.....(yes it is some pretty nasty stuff)
