Hello from Mayne Passage

Hi all - our cruise is well under way - trailered to Campbell River and launched at Discovery Marina on 15 Jun. Had a quick chat with Gene of "Reef Madness" at the fuel dock and we departed Campbell River on 16 Jun. Bit chunky in Seymour Narrows but survived. Came across southbound C-Dory 25 "Rambler" in Yuculta Rapids - and we stopped for a quick chat - had to make the slack. Now at Blind Channel Marina on West Thurlow Island off Mayne Passage (laundry/beer replenishment pause) - as usual the C-Dory is the smallest boat at dock. Good free wi-fi connection from the dock. Weather has been pretty good - mostly cloudy with sunny breaks with the odd fast moving rain squall passing through and no real winds and quite warm. The scenery of the Mainland fjords is nothing short of breathtaking.

Bright, sunny and warm morning at the Blind Channel Marina. We originally intended to travel to Port MacNeil and the Broughtons. Our sail plan was loose and we allocated three weeks but found so far we have been spending two days or so at each anchorage/park/marina in what can be loosely described as the north west portion of Desolation Sound. I think for this year we shall stay in the Desolation Area and next year make a dedicated run up Johnstone Strait to Port MacNeil and spend our time in the Broughton Archipelago. We live on Vancouver Island so trailering to Campbell River is a good location for us to kick-off. There is just so much - fortunately we live here!!

Dave: As Pat indicated...do keep us posted. Do post photo's. I can not wait for the day....or summer when I can dedicate an entire 3-4 month window to seeing the wonderful waters and areas you are now in.
