Divers have pulled thousands of old fishing nets and crab pots from Washington's marine waters since 2002, and they expect to finish much of the work this year thanks in part to federal stimulus dollars.

Someone broke into a fish hatchery run by an Everett School District environmental education program and killed thousands of baby salmon

Someone entered the Lively Environmental Center and used a small net to scoop out the tiny fry. They released about 13,000 into nearby Nickel Creek, even though they were only about the size of the last joint on an adult's finger. About 1,000 fry appear to have been stomped to death on a wooden deck, and around 5,000 seem to have been taken away with a bucket and dumped in a pile on a path.
