Fried A Fender on Walles Exhaust

I learned the hard way not to place a fender between the Wallas Exhaust vent and the dock. Started smelling burning rubber when it dawned on me. I am sharing my foolishness to spare someone else making the same mistake. Could have been ugly.

Once corrected I let the stove burn on high to clean up the soot.

Hi, C-Sick,

Good advice!

I once cranked up the Wallas to do some tests, and had the boat cover on, and just rolled it far enough so I could get in the cabin door, so the cover draped over the exhaust port.

I smelled something strange, and realized what I had done. No damage, but probably could have melted something.

(Actually, there is probably little danger of an actual fire, since the exhaust temperature is just a little over 400º F), but certainly enough to melt a fender.

Anyway, a good heads-up.
