External WiFi Antennas

I have a Samsung notebook that has fairly average wireless b/g reception. I have tried a USB N adapter, but speed tests show it to be a modest, but uninspired improvement in range and speed.

Does anyone have any advice as to what fairly compact external, (usb -based) antenna is best?

I noticed one of the boats at the Bellingham CBGT had an external antenna. I inquired about it, but lost the note I took on it.

Thx

Nope but you can try an external USB wireless adapter (some are free after rebate) and 10' usb cable. That is longest cable I have. It's inexpensive and may improve the connection.
Just turn off internal adapter and run the external one

I am waiting for an external antenna that has gotten good reviews from other boaters to arrive. I'll post my results with it after I have had a chance to try it out.

Place the ext unit outside a window and reposition
